We’ll start this update with a view of the job site entrace. The remnants of a portion of Allegheny Ave. can be seen on the right side of the photo. The two white buildings on the right side are part of our new sales center, where you will have the opportunity to learn more about the best new community in the area.

On the left side of the opening photo, the beginning stages of the stormwater system installation can be seen. These two shots provide a closer look at that area and show the large black pipe with some gravel already placed on top.

Before moving further into the site, we’ll take a look at the very early stages of installation for a utility line. As an excavator is at work, helping to clear the trench, place the pipe and place backfill.

Here is a shot of some of the concrete and other material that has been removed from the former industrial site.

As we begin to move around the rest of the site, let’s get back to the stormwater system. A trench box was used in this location to uphold the integrity of the trench walls and make it easier to place the pipe. Also, notice the gravel fill on top of the pipe which is used for protection for when the trench is eventually backfilled.

A wider look at the area from the last series of photos provides a good look at the Southern part of the site. First Street will eventually connect to Edgewater in the far left corner of these shots.

Another facet to the stormwater installation can be seen in this group of photos. Above are manhole and inlet structures, which are necessary to help manage the water flow and provide access for maintenance purposes. The third shot helps to illustrate the complex network that helps the system to efficiently operate.

These shots were taken of the area that will soon be home to the College Ave. extension. Notice the gradework in the second photo as you can see the new road beginning to take shape.

Here is an adjacent view from the last series of photos. Running up the right side of the photo will be College Ave., with Second Street running across the middle of the shot creating an intersection. Click on the photo to get a closer look at the preliminary stages in creating these roads.

These photos provide the best look at the future of Edgewater as it strives to become a part of the existing Oakmont community. These shots show the extension of Second Street through the middle of Edgewater.

To close this update, we’ll take a look at the new Sales Center that is set to open in the coming weeks. This will be the place to talk to a sales representative about the community or just grab some more information. Stay tuned as there will be another update when the center is open for business.

Along with the stellar play of Creamer, the town of Oakmont once again proved to be a gracious host as hundreds of volunteers helped to make the event a success. Edgewater also played a role in the effort with the site served a parking area throughout the weekend and a featured advertisement in the event’s program.

U.S. Open play is next set to appear in Pittsburgh in 2016, as the men try their hand at the historically difficult venue. By that time, Edgewater residents will be a part of the charm that makes Oakmont one of the best places in the world for championship golf.

The event is Oakmont is one of the stellar examples of this commitment as it has reached its 10 year anniversary and shows no signs of slowing down. This year’s event featured live music, helicopters, a variety of children’s activities and luminaria ceremony, while going on to raise over $100,000.

Edgewater manned a tent during this year’s resounding success, and looks forward to helping ensure that next year’s event builds on this accomplishment.

We’ll start this update with some shots of the material and infrastructure that has already been removed from the site. Specifically in these photos are a variety of different pipes that helped operate the former train wheel manufacturing plant.

Here is a look at some of the foundation that has been pulled from the site. Later in this update you’ll see more of this material and get a look at how it is pulled from the ground.

This shot shows a collection of pipe that will be placed in trenches as part of the drainage system. This process will begin in the coming months.

This panaromic photo was taken near the site of the future First Street intersection and provides a view of a few different projects continuing at this location.

This group of photos includes a few close-up shots from the previous panorama. The first two photos detail some of the fill operation as a dumptruck relocates some dirt from the other side of the site. Due to the dry weather, the dumptrucks stir up dust and this issue is controlled by a crew member lightly spraying the site with water.

Here is another panoramic view of the southern portion of the site. On the left are some manhole structures, while the right side of the shot shows a dumptruck, bulldozer and soil compactor working in tandem on some site work.

This series of photos provides a close-up look at the aforementioned group working together on site work. The dumptruck unloads the fill, before the dozer spreads it, allowing the soil compactor to solidify the ground.

In these photos, you can see some silt fence, which will prevent any disturbance to the river edge. Also, take a look at the view that will eventually become one of the signatures of life at Edgewater.

Continuing around the site, here is a wide shot of the rest of the area. Zoom in on this photo by clicking the image and make sure to check out the excavators located near the center of the shot. Their work will be the focus of the upcoming photos.

Here is a closer view of some of the excavators from the previous panorama. There is one more located off to the right of this shot, all are performing different tasks.

These two photos show the excavator that was excluded from the last shot. The work detailed in these shots is the source for the fill operation, which was described earlier in this update.

Here are some views of the other excavators at the location. The first piece of equipment is using a hammer attachment to break concrete, which constituted some the foundations for the train wheel building. The other excavator is using a bucket and hydraulic thumb attachment to load the discarded material and have it taken away.

Edgewater Site Plan

We’ll begin this update with a photo of the intact former office building before moving into the demolition work.

The first photo of this group was taken from nearly the same location as the first overall photo and shows the beginning of the changes. The second shot provides a close up of the current state of the building.

Here are a few photos of the excavator in action as it works to bring down the 2-story, steel-framed building.

These shots provide an up close look at the building coming down. In the second photo, notice that the excavator is not using the customary bucket attachment. They are instead employing a hydraulic thumb, a more articulate piece of equipment, in order to grip certain objects.
